McAvoy to make Bruins debut in NHL Playoffs; Belated Happy 8th Anniversary

This evening, Charlie McAvoy will become the 81st Terrier to play in the NHL, and the second BU sophomore on the 2016-2017 roster to be fast-tracked onto the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup playoff roster.  The newest member of the Bruins will be joining Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson for Game 1 of the NHL first round playoff series at Ottawa.  The 2016-2017 season will go down as a very busy one for the Long Beach, NY native.  He will have played for the BU Terriers, Team USA (in the 2017 World Junior Championships), Providence Bruins (two assists in four games) and the Boston Bruins.  McAvoy was chosen 14th overall in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Yesterday marked the 8th anniversary of the miraculous comeback that resulted in the Terriers   winning a national championship in Washington DC.  With an extra attacker and less than one minute remaining in regulation, Zach Cohen and Nick Bonino scored goals to force overtime.  In that extra session, Colby Cohen's strangely deflected slap shot gave Terrier Nation their 5th NCAA title.
