Draft lottery points Eichel to Buffalo--UPDATED.

The NHL held its draft lottery on Saturday with Edmonton winning the first pick and Buffalo securing the second choice. If the teams follow Central Scouting’s final rankings, freshman Jack Eichel—ranked second— would be drafted by the Sabres. Eichel, who didn’t attend the lottery selection in Toronto due to a family event, continues to respond diplomatically to questions about next season.
"It's tough to think about playing for a team next year when the draft hasn't happened yet. A lot of things can happen on draft day. Nothing is set in stone yet. It would be really nice to play (in Buffalo). There is so much tradition there and it is a great hockey city."

"I was really happy at BU this season. There's no rush to go anywhere. I'm sure the decision will be made in time."

Eichel isn’t done playing hockey this season as he has accepted an invitation to play for Team USA in the IIHF World Championships in the Czech Republic in May. Earlier this season, Eichel captained Team USA in the World Junior Championships, and a year ago, he led Team USA to the World U18 title.

The Boston Herald talked with former Terrier Travis Roy who turned 40 last week. Roy, who was paralyzed 11 seconds into his first shift as a freshman in 1995, had addressed the Frozen Four teams at Fenway Park on April 8. BU goalie Matt O'Connor had put Roy's #24 on his goal stick, just as Chris Drury, a Roy classmate, had done 20 years ago.
