Eichel named HE Player of the Month; JFK highlight reel goals

Terrier freshman Jack Eichel was named Hockey East’s Warrior Player of the Month for November. The center from N. Chelmsford, Mass, who was both Hockey East and National Rookie of the Month in October, led all conference skaters in points, assists and plus/minus during November.

Last night, Eichel appeared on The Pipeline Show with Dean Millard and Guy Flaming.

The Boston Herald reported: “Former Bruin and current Edmonton Oiler GM Craig MacTavish eyeballing BU freshman phenom Jack Eichel at the BU-Colgate game.” MacTavish is the father of 2015 recruit Sean MacTavish, currently playing for Waterloo in the USHL.

Looking ahead
Three future Terriers are among the top 20 USHL scorers. Youngstown's Max Letunov is tied for fifth with 23 points. Sioux City center Robert Carpenter is tied for 12th with 20 and Omaha's Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson, who was the league’s CCM Forward of the Week, is tied for 16th with 19. All three are 2015 recruits.

Two of Forsbacka-Karlsson’s three goals in Omaha’s Nov. 26 10-4 win over Waterloo made the USHL’s Week 10 Highlights reel.

Prior to beginning his first season at Catholic Central High School, 2018 recruit Jake Wise played in the New England Fall Prep Hockey League, skating for the N.E. Public/Catholic team, coached by former Terrier captain Brian McGuirk. Following the league’s Freshman/ Sophomore Showcase, USHR reported:
Jake Wise (#19, L, Mass. Public/Catholic, Central Catholic HS Grade 9, ‘00) -- One of the premiere ‘00s in the country, Wise has a mature array of skills. He shoots to score and has both velocity and release. He has strong and smooth hands, a fluid yet powerful stride, and he competes at both ends. Wise has a good frame and a canny ability to know when to fight through checks and when to finesse his way through traffic. He scored two goals in his first shifts in his game on Saturday – and he was also the youngest player on the ice.

Looking back
Matt Nieto scored the game-winner with 12 seconds left in regulation as San Jose edged Philadelphia, 2-1. He earned first-star honors.
