Following the win against BC and tie with UConn, the Terriers moved up in the national rankings from fifth to third in both the USCHO  and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. SB Nation’s poll ranked BU second.

Freshman Jack Eichel’s game-tying goal against BC and three primary assists against UConn earned him his second Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Award of the season.  Senior Evan Rodrigues, who scored twice against BC and added a pair of assists vs. UConn made the weekly list of top performers.

Hockey Buzz examines the impact Eichel (photo) and Rodrigues had in the two weekend games, while NHL.com reviewed Eichel's first experience with the Battle of Commonwealth Ave. 

College Hockey Inc. Stat-Pack shows the Terriers are fourth best in Division 1 in goal margin, that Matt O’Connor (photo) ranks third in save percentage in the third period and OT, and that Eichel and Danny O’Regan are #1 and #2 in most points in the third period and OT.

O’Connor also ranks first among Hockey East goalies in goals against average (1.61) and save percentage (.947) in all games played. For all games, Eichel, O’Regan and Rodrigues rank 1-2-3 among Hockey East skaters.

Looking ahead

2015 recruit Max Letunov and 2016 recruit Vas Kolias (photo) each had a point in Youngstown’s 5-2 loss to Chicago on Sunday.  Letunov's shot off the Steel’s goalie was converted for the Phantoms’ first score of the evening. Later, Kolias’ slapper found the net after kissing the crossbar. Letunov, a second-round pick of St. Louis in the 2014 draft, is second on the team in scoring with 13 points (7G, 6A) in 12 games, while Kolias has a 2-3-5 line in 11 starts. Youngstown and Chicago meet again this evening and we’ll provide the score in an update.

 

Looking back

In his first return to Anaheim since an off-season trade, Nick Bonino assisted on the Canucks' only goal in regulation and then scored the game-winner (video) in the shootout.

Former Terrier Chris Bourque scored his fourth goal of the season as the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack edged Hershey, 3-2.  

Women’s Team

Junior Sarah Lefort, who leads the Terriers in scoring, and senior Shannon Doyle, riding a six-game scoring streak, both made Hockey East’s weekly list of top performers.
